How to Keep Outdoor Fountains in the Fall

Fall is here and winter is approaching. If you have an outdoor fountain in a place where it gets cold, you may need to take a few extra steps to care for your fountain.

As the fall leaves come down, either make sure that your wall fountain is in a place where it will not be filled with leaves, or clear the leaves out of the fountain daily. If you leave the leaves in the fountain, they could clog up the pump and make the water a slimy mess as they decompose. This is why it's best to place your fountain in a place where leaves will not fall in it daily. If your fountain's location is not negotiable, however, you can make a daily trip to it to scoop out the leaves. This will keep your water clean and your pump safe and running properly.

Since winter is coming, it's best to clean your pump now before it gets too cold. Use a toothbrush to clean the outside of the pump and the inside, if you can open it. Pull out anything that may have gotten stuck in the pump.

As the fall gets colder and winter approaches, think about draining your pond. This will prevent the water from freezing. Get a fountain cover to protect your fountain from harsh weather conditions. Unless you live someplace very warm, like southern California, you should drain your fountain for the winter. Otherwise it will just freeze!

Remove tropical plants from ponds, as they will not survive a cold winter. When they die they decompose and release nitrogen in the water. Too-high concentrations of nitrogen in the water can kill your other plants that otherwise would have survived.

If you don't want to turn off your fountain or pond, consider getting a heater for the water. You can put the heater inside the fountain or pond, and it will keep your water warm enough to prevent freezing over the long winter months. You can buy a heater at a specialty shop.

If you want to keep your garden looking beautiful all year long, be sure to get a fountain rated for outdoor use. Wall fountains are designed to survive all kinds of weather conditions. Tend to your plants and your fountain throughout the winter, and prepare in the fall for the upcoming cold months. In the spring it's time to turn your fountain back on!

How To Choose A Fountain

When most people think of a water fountains, they think of fountains that are going to be used for the outdoors, such as in a large garden. However, you can put a water fountain in your home, too, for a unique visual effect. There are lots of different ways you can do this; you can choose a tabletop water fountain or a wall fountain that is elegantly displayed on your living room wall, for example. No matter what you want, though, you'll find that there are a number of different things you'll need to think about. Before you choose what you want, take some time to look at your own situation and determine what will work best for you.

First of all, take a look at your location. If you want your fountain to be on the floor, this is going to be especially important. Therefore, consider space and effect if you're looking at a floor model. Where can you place the fountain so that it's the most dramatic and attractive, yet still not in the way? Many people, for example, decide to make indoor fountains the focal point to their home's entrance. In your foyer, for example, you could have an attractive floor fountain to soothe and calm guests the moment they walk into your home.

Next, think about what you want the fountain for. What are you going to want to do in terms of creating mood? If you want some "white noise" as you go to sleep, for example, a small tabletop fountain used in your bedroom is one wonderful way to try to fall asleep. Or, you could use a floor water fountain in the sunroom to give it a bit of uniqueness.

When it comes time to choose your perfect specialty water fountain, remember that you don't just have to choose a fountain that's going to take up floor space. If you don't have floor space, you can use a wall fountain instead. In fact, that's exactly what wall fountains are for. You won't need much space at all to give your room a perfect visual focal point of water cascading down a wall, endlessly and soothingly. It can light up a dark room or you can position it such that it will catch the morning light perfectly.

Another point to consider is the kind of material that you want to use. If you want to "go natural," you might want to consider using stone. This material is lovely and can be rustic or polished; either way, it can be perfect for your home. If you want to go modern with your look, consider using glass as your material instead.

When you want floor fountains, tabletop fountains, or wall fountains, it can be quite easy to find exactly what you want, so don't let that stop you. Why not look for yours today?

Great Beneft Of Water Fountains

Make Your Specialty Water Fountain Your Own, and Make It Even Better

If you've decided that you want a water fountain in your office or your home, you'll find that there are a lot of different types available to you. You can choose from many different styles, but you don't have to stick with just one design, no matter how classic you think you want to go. In fact, if you're looking at indoor fountains, you can personalize a lot more than you think you can. And the more you look, the more you'll likely find just what you need.

One great way to personalize your fountain is with a logo. Logo fountains are basically wall fountains with a logo behind the water, so that it "shimmers" behind the water itself. When you put it in the foyer or lobby of your office, you'll find that this gives people an impression they won't soon forget. In addition, when you're looking at a logo fountain, remember that it's still as beautiful as one without a logo. There are a number of benefits that come with an indoor fountain, including the creation of a relaxing atmosphere, having more energy, and feeling an increased sense of well-being just by having running water around you. It's very soothing, too.

If you've decided that you want to personalize your water fountain, remember that this depends on where you put it. Most often, you'll see a water fountain in someplace like a foyer or lobby, but don't forget that you can have them just about anywhere. For example, you can use a small fountain on a table or on the wall at the end of the hallway, where it will provide visual pleasure to the eye and in essence "keep traffic flowing" in the hallway. Or, if you think the sound of running water will soothe you so that you can sleep, consider buying yourself a small tabletop fountain and putting it in your bedroom. If your bedroom is currently dark and stuffy, you may find that simply putting a water fountain in there can help you go to sleep much more quickly.

Another thing you might want to do with your water fountain is decorate it. For example, you can put fresh flowers or a plant beside it, or put some smooth glass pebbles or marbles in the bottom of it. Of course, when you do this you have to take care not to clog your water fountain, but as long as you do this, you can find very creative ways to personalize your water fountain that you might not otherwise have thought of.

If you're thinking about making your indoor wall fountain more personal, take a little bit of time and really think about what you should do for your options. There's probably a lot more out there that you can do than you thought of. At the same time, just creating what you want is going to give you a sense of enjoyment. Think of some of the options available to you when you think about getting your own specialty water fountain, and remember that you can always include something special in mind just for you.
